Group 1 trip to Webster Pass and Group 2 trip to Red Cone, Radical Hill, SOB Hill. August 1st, 2026
This will be a great day on the trails for both Group 1 and Group 2.
Group 1 will venture up Handcart Gulch Road to Webster Pass. This is not a difficult route, but the top of the pass is very narrow on a shelf road with lots of exposure. This area is also tippy to the down side of the trail. Please beware If you have a wide vehicle or you don't like tippy shelf roads.
However, the views are beautiful as you get up to the top. You will then return the way you came unless you want to make it a longer day by going North to other trails. Your leader will be Glenn.
Group 2 will be doing one of our club's favorite trips. The day will start with Red Cone, down over Webster Pass, then up Radical Hill and then West to climb SOB Hill. This will be a beautiful and challenging day in the mountains. Also, this will likely take all day to complete the 3 trails and then get back to the highway. The leaders will be Mike, Kirk and Emilio.
For both goups, we will meet at the intersection of Hwy 285 and County Road 60 (Hall Valley Road) at 8:30 AM. and head to the trails from there.
If you would like to camp in the area Friday night to make it easier to get to the meeting place Saturday morning you are welcome to do so. There are several campgrounds in the area and some take reservations. If reserving a site, sooner is always better than later.
