Labor Day Weekend Overlanding trip August 29th thru September 1st, 2025
We will have a multi-day overland trip over Labor Day Weekend. This will be considered a Group 2 event as there will be some difficult rated trails along the route.
The planned route will take us from the Taylor Park area over to Crested Butte, then North from there to explore more trails.
This will be an overlanding trip which means we will be wheeling and camping in different locations along the multi-day route. Each evening we'll be setting up camp, then packing it up the next morning and taking it all with us to the next location, however, we may be coming back to our camp from the night before on the last night.
We plan to camp 3 nights along the trails so come prepared with everything you need Friday morning the 29th. There will be an opportunity to get some supplies and fuel in Crested Butte as we pass through on Saturday.
Participants will meet on Friday, August 29th at 8:30 a.m. at Safeway, located at 3275 W. Colorado Ave. We'll then head over to find camp at Taylor Park Reservoir.
On Saturday morning we'll travel up over the pass along the Italian Creek trail (with the possibility for a side trip up American Flag Mountain.) After the pass we'll continue West on Italian Creek with the option for a difficult route on Reno Divide. Then on toward Crested Butte. After a stop for gas and supplies we'll head North out of town over Schofield Pass then down to find camp for the second night.
Sunday morning we'll head North through Devil's Punchbowl and check out the historic Crystal Mill. After that we'll decide what the group wants to do as there are options. We may head back to our camp from the night before. We'll return home on Monday.
The trip leaders will be Kirk, Sam, Doug and Allen.
