Group 1 & Group 2 Trails

July 19th, 2025

On July 19th, there will be both Group 1 and Group 2 trails.

Group 1 will be going to Argentine pass and MClellan Mountain.

Argentine pass was formerly used by a toll road and stagecoach route. The trail on the west side of the pass is the remains of this road. The Jeep trail to the pass follows the grade of this abandoned railroad. Argentine Pass is the highest pass on the Continental Divide!

Participants plan to meet at Sinclair gas station in Downieville at 9:00 AM and head to trail from there.

Trail leader will be Glenn.

Group 2 will be going to Wheeler Lake. This is considered a difficult trail. Several large rock obstacles require careful tire placement. Very narrow in spots with tight brush that can scratch paint, especially when squeezing by other vehicles.  Be sure to bring your camera on this beautiful climb through a valley and to an alpine lake with a waterfall. Enjoy the wildflowers and some great fishing. This trail will also take you directly under Magnolia Mill.

Participants plan to meet at Exxon gas staton on the South side of Fairplay at 9:00 AM and head to trail from there.

Trail leaders will be Kirk, Mike, Emilio and Jason.
