Right on the heels of Halloween we are gearing up for the annual Christmas for Kids event to support local children (and some seniors) in El Paso County who have exhausted all other benefits and are facing a difficult holiday season. As in years past, members of our club have an opportunity to sponsor one or more children or seniors; the El Paso County Department of Human Services (DHS) vets the recipients and provides each child's name, sex, age, and Christmas needs/wishes. Sponsors have typically spent about $25-30 per child, and this year we think the potential scarcity of toys may mean we'll spend closer to $35-40 per child. If you are able to be a sponsor this year, we ask that you contact our club coordinator, Director Jim Jenista, at jjenista@aol.com by this Fri Nov 5 with the number of children you would like to sponsor, as well as whether you can provide a gift bag for one or more seniors. Jim will then provide additional instructions and the children's info in an e-mail to each sponsor.
If you are unable to be a sponsor, we do welcome your prayers for these families as they weather hard times. Thank you!
