As we have for the last few years, we plan to take the Automobile Tour of Picketwire Canyon in the Comanche Grasslands south of La Junta on Saturday, October 21.  This is a guided tour of the canyon (the trail is Group 1 easy), dinosaur tracks next to the Purgatoire River, and the ruins of old settlements in the area; we may also see large but harmless tarantulas on the roads, as it will be the late stages of their annual migration.  Forest Service provides the guide, and there is a cost for the all-day tour, as well as a limited number of tickets (we cannot reserve a block for the club; they are first come, first served).

There were 27 tickets remaining as of 8 am on Sep 21.  If you cannot join us on Oct 21, there are tickets available on other Saturdays in Oct and one in Nov, and you can certainly take the trip independently of the club run.
