APRIL 10 SATURDAY – ANNUAL CLUB KICKOFF
Held at First Nazarene Church, Free Lunch at 12 Noon
Meeting at 10:00 A.M., Door Prizes, Registrations,
Fellowship, Slide Show, Articulation Ramp.
APRIL 24 SATURDAY – UNIFIED TRIP – CEDAR MOUNT. GULCHES
Trip Leaders – Denny Hage & Bob Robson & Tom Thompson
BREAKFAST – 8:00 A.M. – FOUR WHEEL PARTS, S. Academy
Brief Meeting & Departure from 4 Wheel Parts at 9:00 A.M.
Special instructions will include where for Lunch and further details on
Hackett Gulch, Longwater Gulch, & Metberry Gulch for the day!
Pack your own lunch, chairs, snacks, drinks, camera, & binoculars.
MAY 8 SATURDAY – TWO AWESOME TRIPS – SELECT ONE
Group 1 – China Wall – Trip Leaders – Denny & Buddy
Depart – 9:00 A.M. – Safeway, Colorado Ave., West of 31st Street
We’ll head west on Hwy. 24 toward Lake George, go north on
Rd. # 77 toward Jefferson to China Wall. The scenic trail will take us
for lunch beside the Tarryall River. After lunch we’ll take another
scenic trail back out to Rd. # 77 with options given for all including
Tarryall Reservoir, or LaSalle Pass, or Eleven Mile Reservoir.
Group 2 – Chinaman Gulch – Trip Leaders – Dick, Randy, Dave
Depart – 7:00 A.M. – Safeway, Colorado Ave., West of 31st Street
We’ll head west on Hwy. 24 across South Park to Johnson Village.
Quick rest stop including fuel and snacks if needed. Proceed on to
Trailhead where any further instructions will be given by Leaders.
Lunch will be on the trail. Hopefully home by dark if all goes well.
MAY 22 SATURDAY – RAINBOW FALLS OR SLAUGHTERHOUSE
Group 1 – Rainbow Falls – Trip Leaders - Bob Ribisi & Buddy
Depart – 9:00 A.M. – Safeway, Colorado Ave., West of 31st Street
Proceed to Woodland Park, north on Hwy. 67, 8 miles to Trailhead.
Trip includes a variety of trails and challenges with Lunch on the way.
End of trip brings you back out to Hwy. 67. You can proceed back
home, or take the optional scenic drive north up to Deckers, then on
to Sedalia, then to Castle Rock and back home via I-25. Pack your own
lunch, snacks, drinks and camera for a full day of 4 wheeling.
Group 2 – Slaughterhouse Gulch – Trip Leaders – Pete & Bob Rob.
Depart – 7:00 A.M. – Safeway, Colorado Ave., West of 31st Street
Check with your Trip Leaders for all details regarding this trail.
General location is off Hwy. 285, southwest of Denver, near Bailey
This trip promises to be a fun-filled day. Come prepared for it.
MAY 29 – 31 ANNUAL MOAB MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND UNIFIED TRIP
Trip Leaders – Frank Ralston & Randy Musselman, RSVP Needed
All details regarding departures, camping or motels, meals, return times,
will be coordinated with the Trip Leaders in advance – so please RSVP.
Trails of all levels from easy to difficult will be selected by the Leaders
to accommodate any kind of vehicle and driver and family. Moab is one
of the most scenic wonders in the U.S.A. People go there from around
the world. It is Red Rock Country. You MUST bring your CAMERA!!!
JUNE 5 SATURDAY – ANNUAL CLEANUP DAY – MOUNT BALDY
Trip Leaders – Dick Dyar & Buddy Beach & Denny Hage
Depart – 8:00 A.M. – St. Paul’s Catholic Church, behind the Broadmoor
This is our Club’s Adopted Trail System that we keep clean.
The FOREST SERVICE gives us instructions of what to do such as:
raking, shoveling, spreading grass seed, picking up trash, putting in
fenceposts, dragging logs to block illegal roads, putting up signs, etc.
Plan on providing your own lunch and drinks at this point in time. We
will most likely work together with a Motorcycle Trailriders Club also.
The Forest Service actually turns in a report on how many people show
and how much work was accomplished that day. This makes for good
relations with them, and helps immensely when we struggle to keep our
many other trails open around the state of Colorado.

JUNE 19 SATURDAY – EMPIRE TRAIL SYSTEM OR SPRING CREEK
Group 1 – Empire Trail System – Trip Leaders – Denny & JoDel
Depart – 8:00 A.M. – Safeway, Colorado Ave., West of 31st Street
We take I-25 north to the I-470 Loop, go west to I-70, go west to
Hwy. US 40 and exit. Proceed to the little town of Empire. We turn
right in town and go immediately to the trailhead and air down. The
Empire Trail System takes in many miles of trails including the old
Empire Hotel, Bill Moore Lake, and other scenic areas. Lunch will
be on the trail somewhere according to our progress that day. We’ll
try for Bill Moore Lake if we can make it! On the way back down &
out we’ll check & see how many want to stop in Empire at the Dairy
King & have dinner together. Great hamburgers and ice cream!
Group 2 – Spring Creek – Trip Leaders – Bob Robson & Dave
Depart – 8:00 A.M. – Safeway, Colorado Ave., West of 31st Street
We meet & depart with Group 1 with details listed above. On I-70
we go west to Idaho Springs for a rest stop. Then on west to Exit 234
where Trip Leaders will lead you on from there. This is a very scenic
and challenging trail even for well built up vehicles, although there are
go-arounds if needed. Pack a great lunch and bring your camera. Have
someone else take a picture of you and your vehicle in a great spot!
JULY 9 & 10 FRIDAY & SATURDAY UNIFIED CAMPOUT – TINCUP PASS
Groups 1 & 2 Depart Together – Friday – 2:00 P.M. – Safeway
Prepare by taking a half day off work, pack & fuel up!
Details – we proceed west on Hwy. 24 to Johnson Village for a rest
stop, fuel, whatever. We then go south to Nathrop, & west to St. Elmo.
Just west of St. Elmo is the lower part of Tincup Pass where we will
locate a Unified Camping Spot for all. Bring tents, food, & all supplies.
SATURDAY TRAILS – MOUNT ANTERO or IRON CHEST
Mount Antero – Trip Leaders – Bob Ribisi & Denny Hage
Depart from camp – 9:00 A.M. (Those joining – Trailhead – 9:00 A.M.)
Air down & disconnect before departure, please. We proceed up to
Baldwin Creek, cross it & start up Mount Antero. We will strive for the
highest parking area allowing time for hiking, rock hunting, & pictures.
Lunch will be back down in a beautiful meadow with wild flowers.
Then down the mountain and the drive back home. Options include
going to Buena Vista or Salida for dinner and maybe back through the
Bighorn Sheep Canyon on Hwy. 50. Should be a wonderful two days!
Iron Chest – Trip Leaders – Randy Musselman & Tom Thompson
Depart from camp – 9:00 A.M. (Those joining – Trailhead – 9:00 A.M.)
Air down & disconnect before departure, please. Go back through St. Elmo &
turn south on Hancock Pass Rd. & go to trailhead. Leaders will
instruct from there. Iron Chest is very challenging with many large rocks
to climb. It’s easy to become high-centered. The Iron Chest Mine at the
top is worth getting out & looking at to take pictures, but be careful.
It is only 2.9 miles up & then back down again, but you will spend 4 to
5 hours negotiating this trail totally. Options are to talk to some of your
closest friends on the trip & make plans to eat dinner in either Buena
Vista or Salida, and then come back home via Hwy. 50 & the Bighorn
Sheep Canyon, through Canon City and Hwy. 115 to the Springs.
JULY 23 & 24 FRIDAY & SATURDAY – SAND DUNES & MOUNT BLANCA
Both Trips demand an Overnight Campout –
We recommend you take a half day off work, pack & be on time!
Group 1 – Sand Dunes – Trip Leader – Bob Ribisi (RSVP required)
Depart – 2:00 P.M. – Safeway at Hwy. 115 & South Academy Blvd.
Note the new location, please. Proceed south on 115, then on to
Westcliffe for rest stop, fuel, whatever. Camp will be just before
Medano Pass, in the meadow there. Departure on Saturday is
9:00 A.M. Air down and disconnect before 9 a.m. Take Medano Pass
across the Sangre de Christo Range and arrive at the Great Sand Dune
National Park, back entrance. There has not been a FEE in the past if
you don’t leave through the front gate. However, please be prepared.
Bring sliders of some type if you wish & have fun. Lunch at the dunes.
Bring chairs & sit with your feet in the water. Back home your choice
as to which way & when, Medano Pass or pay at the gate, take highway.
Group 2 – Mount Blanca – Trip Leaders – Dave & Bob Robson
Depart – 2:00 P.M. – Also at new location, same as above for Group 1.
However we take I-25 south down to Walsenburg, have a rest stop &
refuel, snacks, whatever. Then proceed west on Hwy. 160 to turnoff
to the Sand Dunes National Park. Go right several miles to road on
right to the Trailhead for Mount Blanca. Proceed to campsite.
Early departure next morning at 7:00 A.M. or Leaders call. Tackle
all the series of JAWS & other obstacles on this trail, one of the most
difficult in the state of Colorado. Lunch up at the Lake. Bring your
camera for some unforgettable pictures. Back down the trail, hit the
highway, catch dinner somewhere, and back home to the Springs.
AUGUST 6 & 7 FRIDAY & SATURDAY UNIFIED TRIP TO RED CONE
This will be a Campout near Red Cone. The trail will be quite
a challenge to stock vehicles. We will place you in the lineup
so that you receive help if you need it. This is an excellent trail
to practice your driving skills on with folks willing to help you.
Groups 1 & 2 Depart Together – Friday – 2:00 P.M. – Safeway
Take a half day off work – Trip Leaders – Dick & Randy
Hwy. 24 west to Lake George, north on Tarryall Rd. to Jefferson.
Rest stop there, refuel, snacks, whatever. Turn right on Hwy. 285,
Go over Kenosha Pass to old townsite of Webster, left to camping
area to be determined. Depart – 9:00 A.M. from campsite.
Red Cone will be extremely scenic as you approach the top. It is
breathtaking to say the least. Use lowest gear & a touch of your
emergency brake going down, slow & careful. At the very bottom
members of Group 1 should take a left and go home via Webster
Pass which is easier. Group 2 vehicles can go on and ascend
Radical Hill and other trails from there. Another option for
Everyone, Groups 1 & 2, is to go on northwest on the Swan River
Road, to Tiger Road, & into Breckinridge. Then have dinner & a late
drive home from there. What a day!
AUGUST 21 SATURDAY – UNIFIED TRIP TO WHEELER LAKE
BREAKFAST FIRST – FARICY BOYS JEEP DEALERSHIP
Trip Leaders – Bob Ribisi & JoDel Jerred
Eat – 8:00 A.M., Including Brief Meeting & Tour of Facilities
Depart – 9:00 A.M., Take Hwy. 24 across South Park to Hartsel
Take Hwy. 9 north toward Breckinridge. Before Hoosier Pass
you take a gravel road to the west, go by the reservoir, and
come to the trailhead. The leaders will assist you & also act as
pointers when needed. Stock vehicles will be challenged but can
make it with help, as they did last year. It is absolutely beautiful
everywhere on this trip. For many folk, this is their favorite trip
of the year. Just ask around & see! Have lunch up at the top at
Wheeler Lake. Bring a chair, lunch and a camera! You’ll love it.
Because of our late start with Breakfast and all, be prepared for
a late return to the Springs in the evening. You might want to
bring extra snacks or catch dinner somewhere on the way back.
SEPTEMBER ANNUAL LABOR DAY WEEKEND – TAYLOR PARK
3 – 5 or 6 UNIFIED TRIP with Trails for all Vehicles

Your return home is your choice, Sat., Sunday, or Monday
Depart on Friday – 12 Noon – Safeway, West Colorado Ave.
Take Hwy. 24 to Johnson Village for rest stop, fuel, & whatever.
Proceed on to Buena Vista, west over Cottonwood Pass, to Taylor
Park, to the right on gravel road to our camping area. Campers &
Trailers can be taken to there, including ATVs & Dirtbikes. This
Camping Area can be our homebase for several nights if you want.
Many trails go out from here, so we can drive and return easily.
Greater details will be given by your Leaders. Some of the best
will include Italian Creek, Cement Creek, town of Crested Butte,
Schofield Pass, Taylor Pass, Pearl Pass, etc. You could even return
home via Tincup Pass if you so desire. Bring all your camping gear,
your food & drink, chairs, etc., although there is a country store in
Taylor Park back near the road to Cottonwood Pass, and a Café if
you don’t want to cookout. Bring friends along on this trip and
introduce them to 4 wheeling and camping. They’ll love you for it.
Remember – Plan your own come home time to fit your schedule!
SEPTEMBER FRIDAY & SATURDAY – TEXAS CREEK OR HOLY CROSS
24 & 25 CAMPOUTS FOR BOTH – BUT SEPARATE
Group 1 – Texas Creek – Trip Leaders – Rollie & Denny
Depart – Friday at 2:00 P.M. – Safeway – 115 & S. Academy Blvd.
Take Hwy. 115 to Hwy. 50, west to Canon City, west to Texas Creek
Set up camp along the Arkansas River. On Saturday we take a number
of trails in that greater area for some awesome views & a few challenges
Lunch along the way. Food & gas is available back at Hwy. 50 at the
trailhead. Bring all your camping gear, food, & have lots of fun.
Group 2 – Holy Cross – Trip Leaders – Frank & Bob Robson
Depart – Friday at 12:00 Noon – Safeway – West Colorado Avenue
Take Hwy. 24 to Buena Vista, Leadville, and on to the Holy Cross
Area for an exact Camping Spot to be determined. Enjoy the evening.
Early departure – 7:00 A.M. to beat the crowd. Let them follow us!
Trip Leaders will give all further details regarding this trip.
RSVP to them that you are going! Some people wait all year
just to do this trip. Don’t miss it this year. Stay over & Camp
if you want and come home on Sunday for a great weekend.
OCTOBER 23 SATURDAY – PENROSE TRAIL SYSTEM
GO DRIVE IT OR GO WATCH IT HAPPEN!!!
Breakfast Starts It All – Perkins Dodge & Jeep – at 8:00 A.M.
Depart – 9:00 A.M. – Perkins – Trip Leaders – Frank & Bob Rob.
Take Hwy. 115 south to Penrose turnoff to Brush Hollow Reservoir.
Leaders will give you detailed instructions from there on. You will
get to either drive or watch some of the most awesome rock crawling
you’ve ever seen. Your CAMERA is a MUST! Bring a chair, a lunch,
and wear good traction walking shoes or hiking boots. Be careful!
Come back home the same way you went in.
This is the last regular trip of the season. Hope you enjoyed them.
