Texas Creek Trip Report 2008

May 31, 2008 Leader Rollie Becker & Tail Gunner Tom Thompson

After introductory words by Denny Hage we gave directions & had prayer.  Seven vehicles with 19 people and a Golden Retriever "Windy" went through Penrose, Canon City, over Mt. "Royal Gorge", stopped for a quick break along the flood-stage Arkansas River, crossed the river a second time, crossed the tracks and headed up the long Texas Creek bed-road, and had lunch at the beautiful Mountain Peak turn around at the top.The views were spectacular.

When Sam Giamarvo mentioned that his newly installed T.J. steering seemed loose, tool boxes, wrenches and heavy wire were readily available.  A hardened wire cotterpin and several checks on the way out got him and wife and dog back home.  We praise God for his protection of the T.J.

About half way back to the river 4 vehicles (Hurds, Schillings, Tom and Beckers) took FCR 27 to Bull Creek and after Tom took some family videos, the small children had lots of fun playing in and by the lovely creek.  Others who took 4 wheelers were Rickabaugh and Chumbley.

A great time of fun and fellowship was had by all.
