Argentine Pass Trip Report 2008

Despite the trip leader (me) having to return home to pick something up we still made it to Georgetown on time and met two couples there. We then started up Guanella Pass which is still under a lot of construction and eventually found the turn off to Argentine Pass.

The trip up to the old Waldorf mine site was beautiful with glimpses of snow covering the peaks thru the trees. After lunch, we started up the rest of the trail but learned after about a mile that there was a 5 - 6 foot snow drift across the road, so we had to turn back.

All was not lost though as we decided to visit the Santiago mine site. Although everyone was reluctant to try the hill challenge at first, Gary Dasko showed it could could be done in his Toyota Tundra. After that, we all climbed up the hill with no problem and continued to the mine site where we spent a little time looking around at the artifacts. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we had a good time of fellowship.
